Thanksgiving is Coming, and it is a wonderful opportunity to take a moment to reflect on all the blessings that God has created and generously bestowed upon us.
Psalm 16:9 –“That’s why my heart celebrates and my mood is joyous; yes, my whole body will rest in safety.”
This special holiday invites us to pause our busy lives and express gratitude for the abundance that surrounds us, from the simplest pleasures to the profound relationships we cherish.
It serves as a reminder to appreciate not just the material gifts, but also the intangible blessings such as love, friendship, health, and the beauty of nature that enrich our lives.
Even though we have faced numerous challenges and obstacles throughout our lives, it is essential to recognize that God’s faithfulness remains ever-present, guiding us through our trials and tribulations.
Psalm 46:1 specifically highlights God as a help in trouble.
The journey may not always be smooth, and we may encounter hardships that test our strength and resolve. However, it is during these difficult times that we often discover the depth of our resilience and the unwavering support that surrounds us, reminding us that we are never truly alone.
God's presence in our lives offers comfort and hope, encouraging us to keep moving forward with faith and gratitude.
This year, let us consider the concept of a thankful table, where we gather not to focus on what we lack or desire, but rather to celebrate and cherish what we already possess. This table can be a symbol of abundance, filled with the fruits of our labor, the love of our family and friends, and the warmth of togetherness.
By shifting our perspective from longing for more to appreciating what we have, we cultivate a spirit of thankfulness that enriches our lives and those around us. It’s an opportunity to share stories, laughter, and moments of reflection that strengthen our bonds and create lasting memories.
1 Peter 1:6–7:
"In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith... may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ"
Learning the art of gratefulness can sometimes be challenging, especially in a world that often encourages discontent and comparison. However, it is a skill we can develop with intention and practice. By starting small, perhaps by keeping a Hey God Im Grateful journal or sharing daily thankfulness with others, we can gradually train our minds to focus on the positives.
Recognizing the little joys, like a warm cup of tea in the morning or a kind word from a friend, can have a profound impact on our overall outlook on life.
This shift in mindset not only benefits us personally but also inspires those around us to embrace gratitude as a way of life.
Moreover, as we gather around our tables this Thanksgiving, it is crucial to remember those who are less fortunate and may be facing loneliness during this season.
Many individuals and families struggle to make ends meet or find themselves without loved ones to share the holiday with. This is a perfect opportunity to extend our kindness and generosity by inviting someone into our homes, offering them a place at our table, and sharing a meal together.
Psalm 146:8
The Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,the Lord loves the righteous.
By doing so, we not only provide nourishment but also create a sense of community and connection that is invaluable. Can we take the time to reach out, whether it be through a simple invitation or by volunteering our time and resources, to ensure that everyone has something to be thankful for this holiday season.
Just be there and believe He is WITH YOU!
