## It's Holiday Time and I'm Watching My Diet!
As the festive season rolls in, bringing with it a parade of parties and potlucks, I'm in a bit of a pickle. While everyone else is getting high on holiday cookies and eggnog, I'm here trying to keep my waistline from expanding faster than Santa's sleigh. This time of year is like a minefield of deliciousness, threatening to blow up my healthy habits.
Every holiday gathering is a smorgasbord of temptation.
Lord lead me not into temptation!
We're talking pumpkin pie that winks at you and gingerbread men practically doing the cha-cha. And let's not even start on the roasted turkey and all the trimmings that call out like sirens.
It's a culinary circus, and I'm trying not to be the clown who eats it all.
But fear not, for I am determined to stick to my health goals, even when faced with a mountain of festive treats. After all, I plan to outlive my Thanksgiving meal and on to those Christmas lights.
My secret weapon? Strategic planning, of course. I’m basically the Napoleon of holiday eating. I jot down menus and plot my moves like a general preparing for battle. And then dive in!
By knowing what's on the table ahead of time, I can decide which indulgences are worth the calories. Maybe just a tiny slice of my favorite pie, while the rest of my plate goes on a health kick.
Or I could eat the pie first and the rest for dessert.
And let's talk about portion control—my new best friend. (Yes, I’ll take the kiddie plate, thank you.)
It's way too easy to go overboard when you're staring at a banquet that looks like it could feed a small country.
To keep things in check, I load up on veggies and lean proteins, making sure my body gets its nutrients while my taste buds get their holiday cheer. This way, I can enjoy the feast without needing to unbutton my pants.
Another trick up my sleeve is staying active.
(Maybe I should finally use that gym membership)
With all the holiday lounging around, it's tempting to turn into a couch potato. So, I make sure to sneak in some exercise during the festivities. Really doing the cooking and feeding the dogs just isn't shrinking the waistline.
Whether it's a brisk walk to burn off that extra cookie, joining in on a family game, or actually showing up at the gym (I pray GOD Help Me this time), staying active keeps my energy up and my metabolism ticking.
Most importantly, I remind myself that the holidays are about more than just food. They're about laughter, love, and making memories with the people who matter most. By focusing on the joy and not just the gingerbread, I find a satisfaction that goes beyond any dessert.
In conclusion, while the holiday season is a buffet of temptations, I'm sticking to my plan of watching my diet like a hawk. With a mix of planning, mindful munching, moving my body, and soaking up the holiday spirit, I can indulge in the celebrations without derailing my health goals. This holiday, I'm all about balance—enjoying the fun while keeping my health in check.
1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Eat well, get well, and live longer!
