A Few Tidbits ... Peaches.. Dont Waste Them!

ree

Have you ever realized the fruit you bought just might not make it another day?

Well, that happened to me recently when I bought a bag of ripe, juicy peaches and, in the hustle and bustle of daily life, completely forgot they were there, nestled in my kitchen counter.

As the days passed, I noticed their vibrant color starting to dull, and the sweet aroma that once filled the air began to fade. It was a gentle reminder that I needed to act quickly before they turned into a mushy, sad mess.

I knew I had to do something about it, so I decided to transform these lovely peaches into a delightful treat that would not only save them but also provide a delicious addition to our meals. I carefully peeled each peach, reveling in the soft, velvety skin giving way to the succulent flesh beneath.

Then, I sliced them into bite-sized pieces, ensuring that I captured every bit of their sweetness. The vibrant orange-yellow color of the peaches was a feast for the eyes, and I could already envision the delightful dish I was about to create.

Next, I started to simmer the peach slices gently in a saucepan over low heat. As they began to soften, I reached for a special ingredient that always adds a touch of magic to my recipes: 1/4 cup of pure Maple Syrup sourced from our family farm in Wisconsin.

This syrup, with its rich flavor and natural sweetness, would complement the peaches perfectly, creating a harmonious blend that would elevate the dish to new heights.

To enhance the flavor even further, I decided to zest in some fresh Lemon and Orange. The bright, citrusy notes from the zest brought a refreshing contrast to the sweetness of the peaches and maple syrup, creating a well-rounded flavor profile.

As I stirred the mixture, the kitchen filled with an intoxicating fragrance that made my mouth water in anticipation. The combination of warm peaches, sweet syrup, and zesty citrus was simply irresistible.

I continued to cook this delightful concoction down, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully while evaporating excess water, which resulted in a luscious, thick syrup.

Once it reached the perfect consistency, I poured the mixture into my smoothie maker, eager to blend it into a smooth, velvety puree. The aroma wafting through the air was heavenly, and I couldn't help but sneak a taste. It was a burst of summer in a jar!

After blending, I cooked off a little more water to ensure the mixture was just right before transferring it into a quart jar for storage.

The vibrant color and enticing scent promised a delicious treat ahead. When my husband tasted it, his eyes lit up with delight, and he immediately started asking for more, eager to incorporate this peachy goodness into his breakfast and snacks. Now he wants apple... WHAT HAVE I STARTED???

It was a wonderful feeling to not only save those peaches from going to waste but also to create something that brought joy and satisfaction to our table. Now, I'm inspired to experiment with other fruits and flavors, turning what could have been waste into delightful culinary creations!

Enjoy The season it doesn't last long

Blessings

Theresa
